The Estevan Art Gallery & Museum Members' Show | Gallery 2
October 30th - December 19th, 2014

The EAGM’s Annual Members’ Show was established to provide more opportunities for local talent to showcase their work. The criteria are simple: Members can submit up to two works of art, in any media, and submissions are exhibited regardless of age or skill level. What transpires is a truly democratic group show that demonstrates the vast talent and current creative concerns of Estevan and area artists.
Sculptor Aaron Salomon translates his love of stone into beautiful organic forms in (evocatively-named) peach alabaster and yellow wave wonderstone. Long-term contributor to the EAGM, Cheryl Andrist, provides a moment of whimsy with her colourful bubble studies. Playful animals are the preferred subjects in Sheila Farstad’s watermedia works, and Marleen Vicary’s scenes transport the viewer – or our imaginations, at least - to warmer climes. Emerging watercolourist, Jo Ann Fahlman, paints the world around her, with a particular interest in prairie landscape, flora and fauna. Local photography is represented with Gene Dela Cruz’s intimate portraits, and Mary Jacobs’ stunning wildlife shots. Finally, Allyson Haukeness’ painting meditates on the traumatic experience of a devastating flood at her home.
